Gameduels: Building a Scalable Real-Money Gaming Platform with Cloud-Native Architecture
24 July 2025 . 15 min read
Client
Gameduels, an ambitious India-based startup, aimed to disrupt the real-money gaming sector by delivering a compelling, skill-based gaming experience. The platform was designed to host live tournaments, offer real cash rewards, and serve as a new-age marketing engine where brands could engage users directly through gaming.
Project
With a growing appetite for interactive, competitive mobile experiences in India, Gameduels envisioned a feature-rich, secure, and highly engaging real-money gaming platform. The challenge was to develop an end-to-end solution that spanned everything from UX design to infrastructure deployment — all within a strict 6-month timeline.
The platform needed to support:
• Real-time multiplayer gaming across genres,
• User authentication, KYC, and payment gateway integration,
• Seamless onboarding for both players and brand partners,
• Administrative tools to manage tournaments, games, and campaigns.
Challenges
1. Daily user engagement:
Designing for long-term retention in a competitive market demanded thoughtful UX, regular incentives, and content variety.
2. Security & compliance:
Collecting and processing personal and financial information required robust data security aligned with India’s fintech regulatory environment.
3. Payment gateway onboarding:
Navigating India’s evolving real-money gaming regulations introduced complexities in integrating and maintaining payment processing capabilities.
4. Strict delivery timeline:
The MVP needed to be fully operational within 6 months to align with go-to-market targets and partner launches.

Solution
We adopted an agile delivery model with structured sprints and used industry-standard project management tools to track velocity and ensure transparency.
Technology stack:
• React Native: For cross-platform mobile development
• Node.js (GraphQL): To handle business logic and user flows
• Dockerised microservices: Ensuring scalable and modular deployment
• AWS Lightsail: A cost-effective cloud hosting environment suited for early-stage scale
• Unity (WebView integration): Embedded mini-games for seamless in-app play
• Custom CMS: Enabling internal teams to manage tournaments, games, rewards, and user profiles dynamically
Key features:
• Real-time tournament participation with live leaderboards
• Brand-sponsored time-limited tournaments
• Player-versus-player and genre-diverse games (42+ games across 7 categories)
• Wallet & reward system (pending gateway approval)
• Intelligent matchmaking and gamified rewards engine
The solution was developed entirely in-house — from UX research and wireframes to full-stack development and QA testing — ensuring full alignment across design, engineering, and business objectives.
Outcome
Despite successful technical delivery within the targeted timeline, regulatory headwinds around payment gateway approval paused the client’s public launch. Nevertheless, the platform stands fully functional, battle-tested, and ready for market deployment once final legal clearances are obtained.
Results:
• 6 months from design to full-stack delivery
• 42+ games integrated across 7 genres
• Cloud-native architecture with modular extensibility
• Built-in monetization tools for brand partnerships & sponsorships
The Gameduels platform demonstrates how E2E development, when aligned with agile practices and a future-ready tech stack, can accelerate innovation — even in highly regulated, rapidly evolving industries like real-money gaming.
